with Charles Gandy
November 5, 2016, 1-4pm
at Silver Threads & Golden Needles in Franklin, NC
A 3-hour hands-on workshop with TKGA Master Knitter, Charles Gandy.
Here’s a FUN opportunity to learn numerous ways to enhance YOUR knitted creations through applied embellishments. From frilly ruffles to bobbles to twists and ripples, I-Cords, special “finger” cords and even beading, we will explore, through a hands-on sampler – we will NOT be making socks! – how these techniques can make YOUR projects unique and knitted with personality! If you are comfortable knitting and purling and want to be a bit more creative in your knitting, then this is the class for you.
CHARLES GANDY, a TKGA Master Knitter, learned to knit at the young age of four from his mother, a designer and shop owner. He designed his first sweater three years later and continues to create today. A two-time winner in Knitter’s Magazine “Think Outside the Sox” contest, three of his designs are featured in the book of the same name: “Dread Sox,” “Snake in the Grass” and “Pedicure Polka Socks.” His own book, “The Embellished Sock: Knitted Art for the Foot,” features eighteen creative sock patterns and numerous techniques and is available in yarn shops nationwide. REGIA Yarns commissioned two collections: “Crazy Socks” and “More Crazy Socks” which were published in six languages worldwide. His other designs are widely published in leading magazines and on ravelry.com. The Bascom: A Center for the Arts in Highlands, NC recently hosted his one-person exhibit of 25 knitted sculptural pieces, “Beyond the Sock.” Gandy, a popular speaker and workshop leader, is frequently featured at seminars and conferences nationwide.
