Happy Hambidge Trails

Spend a day in our gorgeous mountains and help maintain the Hambidge trails. If you're interested in volunteering for trail work and would like to be notified about upcoming Trail Work Days, please sign up here.

If you'd like to come up and do a little trail maintenance on a random day, please contact Christine at center@hambidge.org. We can always use an extra pair of hands!

Our next Trail Work Day: September 8, 2018, 10am-4pm

The work day will be led by Jeremy Lloyd - Hambidge Fellow, long-time trail volunteer, and Manager of Field Programs & Collegiate Studies at the Great Smoky Mountains Institute at Tremont. Come whenever you can and stay as long as you want. Bring clippers, loppers, hatchets, shovels and chain saws. You don't need to use a chainsaw - we welcome all skill levels! Enthusiasm and a willingness to work are the best accessories you can bring.

Be aware, depending on the current project, you may have to hike a mile to 1.5 miles to get to the work site, so wear your hiking boots, long pants and sleeves, and bring water, a snack and work gloves.

When you arrive, ask at the gallery where the work party is at the moment. If no one is around, there will be a sign on the office door. We look forward to seeing you!

If you can't come to help, but would like to make a donation, please contribute to our Happy Trails Fund. It was kicked off in 2018 by Ann Johnson’s generous donation in honor of her husband, Tim Johnson, and his love for our trails. Join her in the supporting the maintenance of Hambidge hiking trails and the creation of new ones. All donations are tax deductible.
