ABOUT THE WORKSHOP:
Artists of all levels are invited to spend a delightful morning exploring the playful possibilities of clay in this whimsical hand-building workshop! Starting with simple clay slabs and an easy-to-follow template, you’ll transform humble materials into a charming cottage birdhouse—uniquely yours and ready for its future feathered residents to proudly call home.
Inspired by the cozy character of storybook cottages, these birdhouses offer endless opportunities for creativity. Add texture, carve decorative details, create tiny doors and windows, embellish the surface, or let your imagination wander as you design a one-of-a-kind home full of personality and charm. No two birdhouses will be alike!
This workshop is a wonderful introduction to the joy of working with clay, while also offering experienced potters an opportunity to relax, play, and explore their own creative ideas. You’ll learn approachable hand-building techniques as you cut, shape, assemble, and embellish your birdhouse, all within a fun and encouraging studio environment.
All clay, templates, and basic supplies will be provided, so simply come ready to create! Experienced potters are also encouraged to bring along their favorite texturing, carving, or specialty tools to add their own distinctive touch.
Whether you are completely new to clay or have spent years working with it, this workshop is an invitation to slow down, get your hands dirty, and enjoy the simple magic of making something from scratch. Come build a whimsical little cottage, explore your creativity, and create a handmade home as special as the birds who may one day inhabit it.
ABOUT PAIGE HAVENS
Paige Havens is a multidisciplinary artist whose creative practice includes making, teaching, learning, & collecting. She has embraced creativity throughout her life, working in a diverse range of art mediums, including ceramics, painting, fiber arts, collage, sculpture, glass, digital art, photography, mixed media, and more.
Her love for clay began in 1999 when Paige took her first pottery class and found the medium that truly grounded her. Over the next two decades, she participated in classes and workshops at community studios, gradually elevating her creative practice. In 2022, she and her husband built a multimedia studio on their property in Hoschton, GA, allowing Paige to finally dedicate herself to her art full-time. Someday Studio is a true art sanctuary open to any and all who want to express their creative voice and grow their love of art.
With a deep appreciation for the written word and creative expression, Paige earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from the University of Georgia and pursued a professional career in marketing and communications. In a quest to constantly expand her knowledge of art, Paige attained a World Art History Certificate from Smithsonian Associates. In 2026, she completed a ceramics residency at The Hambidge Center and is now a proud Hambidge Fellow.
Paige draws deep inspiration from the wonders of nature and human authenticity. She enjoys exploring art around the world, participating in workshops, and teaching. Her artwork has been featured in juried shows, showcased in galleries, commissioned by clients, sold to private collectors, and curated in permanent museum collections.

ELIGIBILITY: Your primary address must be in Rabun County in order to attend this workshop. You will be asked to show ID with your address upon arriving.
If you are interested in attending but do not reside in Rabun County, please be aware that a monetary fee will apply. Additionally, attendance is subject to approval at the discretion of the instructor.
Space is limited to 10 participants.
Each participant must register separately.
Open to local creatives over the age of 12.
Minors must be accompanied by a participating adult. Minors will not be asked for ID; only adults.
