Join us for the re-opening of the Hambidge Hive (now in the West Tower) with the reception for the South Arts Southern Prize & State Fellowships for Visual Arts Exhibition.
The traveling exhibition features the 2026 Southern Prize State Fellows Dianna Settles (Winner) and Sergio Suárez (Finalist), as well as Jeff Schmuki, Kerry Phillips, Caitlin Ezell Waugh, Brejenn Allen, Zaire Linnex Miles-Moultrie, Jay Owens, and Johana Moscoso.
“The South holds more perspectives than any one view can capture, and artists keep expanding what we see,” says Doug Shipman, South Arts President & CEO. “ We’re proud to honor Dianna and Sergio, whose distinct artistic perspectives invite us to see familiar things differently and pay attention to experiences beyond our own.”

Established in 2017, the Southern Prize and State Fellowships program seeks to increase visibility of the artistic breadth and talent of the Southeast region. Later expanded in 2024 to support Literary Arts, the program now annually awards a total of $160,000 in unrestricted prizes to nine visual artists and nine literary artists from each state in South Arts’ region: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
