The Hambidge Center is pleased to announce the new Sun and Zhang Family Distinguished Fellowship for AAPI Social Practice Artists of the American South.

This merit-based award supports an Asian American Pacific Islander social practice artist working in the South or deeply rooted in the region, recognizing work that blends creative practice with meaningful community engagement. The selected Fellow will receive a two-week residency and a $700 stipend during the fall 2026 session. Applications open March 1 and close April 15, 2026, as part of Hambidge’s fall (September - December) residency cycle.

Distinguished Fellowships offer individuals and organizations the opportunity to directly support artists and their creative process. Support can be directed within a particular creative discipline, geographic area, demographic, etc. Sponsors commemorate someone special or support a passion through a one-time gift, annual gift or endowing a lasting gift.

If you’re interested in funding a Distinguished Fellowship, you can donate online, or contact Kathryn Derryberry at 770-851-5631 or kderryberry@hambidge.org.
