Hambidge Joins Atlanta Art Fair through ATL CURRENTS and Residency Panel Programming

Atlanta Art Fair returns to Pullman Yards October 1–4, 2026. As a continued catalyst for cultural enrichment and artistic exchange, Atlanta Art Fair’s third edition will feature an inclusive roster of compelling programs and a diverse collection of innovative events, talks, performances, and installations that work to enhance the city’s existing community of artists, galleries, institutions, and collectors.

The Hambidge Center is proud to once again exhibit as a cultural partner and proud to have been selected to participate in ATL CURRENTS, a new initiative presented by the Atlanta Art Fair in partnership with the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta. The program creates a dedicated platform for Atlanta-based independent artists to participate in the Fair and connect their work with collectors, curators, and arts professionals from across the country. We will present three Atlanta artists whose practices are distinct in medium but closely aligned in spirit. Through fiber, ceramics, and photography, Katrina DeMarcus Santiago, Harrison Wayne, and Solange Tran each invite us to look again at something we thought we understood. Each artist has developed a practice rooted in experimentation, sustained inquiry, and a willingness to challenge conventional expectations. Their work reflects Atlanta’s creative vitality while demonstrating the important role that spaces for artistic research play in the city’s cultural ecosystem.

Together, the three artists offer distinct perspectives on how contemporary art can transform perception. Each asks viewers to reconsider something familiar—tradition, material, landscape—and to pay closer attention to what is already present. Their work also reflects Hambidge’s longstanding belief that artistic breakthroughs often emerge when artists are given the freedom to experiment, observe, question, and engage ideas beyond the boundaries of a single discipline.

In addition to our booth with the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta, Hambidge will be represented on multiple panels through Atlanta Art Fair’s Freeman Theater programming. On October 4, Deputy Director, Ife Williams, will join the panel entitled “Beyond Basic Needs: Embedding Care into the Artist Residency Model.”

Moderated by Hambidge Fellow Jessica Gaynelle Moss, the panel brings together residency leaders across the U.S., South Africa and France to examine care not as an abstract value, but as something that can be embedded in the institutions and the experiences of the artists we serve. If artists are the reason these institutions exist in the first place, how do we build models that care for them as our most precious resource? Join us October 4th at 1:30 PM for inspired dialogue from leaders representing The Hambidge Center, Mildred Thompson Legacy Project, The Creatives Project, STILL Artist Residency and Villa Albertine.

As a part of ATL CURRENTS, Hambidge Fellow Harrison Wayne will participate in the panel, “An Independent Artist Spotlight, Presented by the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta” on October 3, 5:30-6:30pm. Moderated by Nato Thompson, this conversation brings together three independent Atlanta artists from The Hambidge Center and Artful ATL to explore the diverse pathways through which artists build careers and engage with the art market. The discussion will consider the opportunities and challenges of working independently alongside traditional gallery representation, while examining how artists, galleries, and arts organizations collectively contribute to Atlanta’s growing contemporary art ecosystem.

Freeman Theater will host a whole weekend of panels featuring Hambidge Fellows including Shanequa Gay, Maryam Moma, TK Smith, Tori Tinsley, Antonio Darden, and more. Visit the Atlanta Art Fair for a full schedule.
