New Distinguished Fellowship Announced for Georgia Ceramicists

Hambidge is pleased to announce the Bill Nixon Distinguished Fellowship for Georgia Ceramicists sponsored by Nancy Shaidnagle and Gene Luckey. Honoree Bill Nixon taught sculpture and figure drawing at Georgia State University and Callanwolde Fine Arts Center until the mid-1990s. This Distinguished Fellowship opportunity is open for the Fall 2024 application cycle.

“As a Hambidge Board Member, I see the immense value Hambidge residencies provide for artists of all disciplines. Bill Nixon is a dear friend and prolific artist who has provided inspiration in the Atlanta area as a ceramics instructor and sculptor for decades. I chose to honor Bill’s artistic contribution by introducing a Georgia-based Ceramicist to Hambidge via a Distinguished Fellowship.” —Nancy Shaidnagle

Hambidge Distinguished Fellowships are fully funded merit-based two week residency awards including a $700 stipend. Distinguished Fellowships offer individuals and organizations the opportunity to directly support artists and their creative process. Support can be directed within a particular creative discipline, geographic area, demographic, etc. Sponsors commemorate someone special or support a passion through a one-time gift, annual gift or endowing a lasting gift.

If you’re interested in funding a Distinguished Fellowship, you can donate online, or contact Kathryn Derryberry at 770-851-5631 or kderryberry@hambidge.org.
