The Traveling Show - 2013

From October 16-19, 2013, Rabun County and the Hambidge Center hosted The Traveling Show, a public art tour collaboration glo and Living Walls. They conducted community events, lectures, and workshops, culminating in two spectacular performances by glo and a superb mural by Living Walls. The first performance and mural reveal took place in downtown Clayton, with over-sized swingsets and blue astroturf blocking the street for a community interactive performance. The second performance was in the empty million-square-foot former Fruit of the Loom factory in Rabun Gap. Inspired by the classic film, The Red Balloon, artwork by hundreds of Rabun County school children was attached to hovering red balloons, through which spectators walked to reach the 'stage' - a large square of grass sod. After the dancers' performance, the viewers were invited to join them in sitting on the grass.
