ABOUT THE WORKSHOP RETREAT
Explore the creative possibilities of geometric drawing using two simple tools: a compass and a straightedge. With artist Vandorn Hinnant, discover how foundational geometric constructions can become intricate patterns and personal expressions.
The workshop begins with a visual presentation introducing a range of artworks and designs created through this practice. Guided drawing exercises will then introduce dynamic and radial symmetry, offering a foundation for developing your own compositions.
As you build and combine geometric forms, explore relationships among line, shape, repetition, and balance. Adding color will bring another dimension to your drawings, creating symmetrical patterns reminiscent of mandalas. Through this process, you’ll develop an approach to geometric drawing that invites both precision and creative exploration.
